A little design philosophy

I sat with a client recently in a home with beautiful bones and furniture she genuinely loved, and she said something I have not stopped thinking about.

“It feels assembled. Not curated.”

That is the whole thing, isn’t it. It is rarely about money, and it is almost never about taste, most people have taste. What is usually missing is a way to bring it all together.

We did not buy a single new thing that day. We made one decision, just one, about what the eye should land on first when you walk into the room. That was it. And the room came alive, not because it changed, but because it finally made sense.

Beautiful homes are not accidental. Sometimes they just need one decision.
