ALI’S QUILL Edition Three
Well… the secret is truly out now.
After many years in our current space, Cloth & Feather will be moving to a new home this June.
There is such excitement surrounding this next chapter — but also the nerves, the endless lists, the packing, planning and decision making that comes with any big move.
In many ways, it feels just like moving house.
And perhaps that makes sense… because over the years, this space has never simply felt like a shop to me. It has always felt more like a home — one that so many of you have visited regularly, wandered slowly through, and shared with us over cups of tea, fabric conversations and decorating dreams.
And while the walls may change, my hope is that the feeling never does.
Our hope is that this next chapter feels just as welcoming, layered and inspiring as the one before it.
To help us prepare for the move, we’re holding a Moving Sale throughout May — both in-store and online.

Dirty Janes, Orange — What a Welcome
Last week, we officially opened our new space at Dirty Janes in Orange — and what a beautiful beginning it has been.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly by the wonderful staff, fellow stallholders, and the Orange community itself.
There is such a lovely energy within Dirty Janes — creative, welcoming and full of beautiful treasures to discover.
We have already met so many kind customers, had thoughtful conversations, and felt incredibly encouraged by the early support we’ve received.
But perhaps more than anything, it has reminded me how deeply people are craving homes and spaces that feel personal, layered and meaningful.
Not perfect.
Not trend driven.
Just thoughtful and welcoming.
It feels very special to see Cloth & Feather finding a home there.
If you find yourself in Orange, we would absolutely love for you to visit.

In My Home ✨

One of the questions I’m asked most often is:
“How do you keep your home feeling fresh without constantly replacing everything?”
And honestly… it’s usually much simpler than people think.
This week, I restyled our sofas at home.
Rather than replacing everything, I repurposed some existing cushions, introduced a few fresh blue and white prints, and added a practical throw for the cooler months ahead — particularly helpful with dogs and a farmer husband during winter.
The beauty of investing in quality upholstery is that the foundation remains timeless.
Our sofa fabric is an incredibly durable stain-resistant fabric, meaning most marks simply sponge away with water, or occasionally a damp cloth and old-fashioned Sunlight soap for anything more stubborn.
Two years ago, I styled with rusts and ochres. This year, I’ve moved towards softer blues and whites — and the entire room feels refreshed again.
It’s often these small seasonal shifts that keep a home feeling alive, evolving and personal.
Sometimes, it isn’t about replacing everything. It’s simply about layering differently.
Why Custom Upholstery Is Worth It
There is something deeply comforting about furniture that fits your life perfectly — a sofa that invites you to exhale at the end of the day, or a chair that finally feels right within the proportions of your room.
The right proportions.
The right comfort.
The right fabric.
The right shape.
Custom upholstery allows you to create pieces that truly suit your space — whether that means a deeper sofa for lounging, a shallower profile for a smaller room, a longer sofa to anchor an open-plan area, or an armchair perfectly scaled to your home.
And importantly — quality matters.
We work with beautiful, high-performance fabrics such as the Zepel Fibreguard and Warwick Halo ranges, designed to withstand real life while still feeling elegant and timeless.
Combined with quality craftsmanship and well-made frames (Australian made wherever possible), these are pieces designed to last beautifully for many years.
And often, clients are surprised to discover that custom design does not necessarily mean overpriced.
With a turnaround of approximately 6–7 weeks, custom upholstery is one of the smartest investments you can make when furnishing your home.
✨ Thinking about new furniture? You may be pleasantly surprised by what’s possible.
The Rule of Three
One of the simplest styling principles I return to again and again is The Rule of Three.
Three cushions.
Three decorative objects.
Three varying heights.
There is something about odd numbers that feels more natural, balanced and visually pleasing within a space.
It creates movement, softness and interest — without feeling overly styled.
And once you notice it, you’ll start seeing it in every beautifully styled room.
