One of the things I love most about decorating is that beautiful homes are rarely created all at once.

They evolve slowly over time.

Layer by layer.
Piece by piece.
Story by story.

This week, I’ve been thinking about our guest bedroom, a space that reflects exactly that philosophy.

Soft blues and natural tones create a calm and welcoming feeling, while a mix of antiques, classic furnishings and layered textiles keeps the room feeling collected rather than overly matched.

The doona cover is from our Cloth & Feather Jaipur Collection, paired with soft Salt Living sheets and generous feather filled cushions that are now more than four years old and still beautiful.

There are antique bedsides from my grandmother’s home, lamps I discovered years ago at a trade fair, and a bedhead I recovered myself.

The curtains feature soft wave fold headings with block out linings for warmth and softness, finished with leather tie backs from our equestrian range, alongside a new light filtering roller blind for privacy during the day.

None of it happened overnight.

And perhaps that is what makes a home feel personal. Not perfection, but thoughtful layers collected and refined over time.
